Captain Rasta

Rasta dreamed of being a Pirate sailing on the blue sea finding, spices, treasure, and commanding the people on his crew. Everyday after school Rasta would go to Glen Innes Wharf and hang around where his grandpa worked cleaning and trading ships. One day Buccaneers arrived at the Eastern beach and took over G.I. Rasta stood up for east side and helped kill the evil Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers ship sat lonely and broken after the monstrous battle, Rasta was determined to make it his own ship. He took the boat to his grandpa and his clever grandpa was able to fix it and upgrade it. The ship was named “Mighty East Side Mariners.” The little boy, Rasta, was all set for his exciting adventure.

On his adventure he stopped in Tonga and battled with the chief of Tonga. Many years ago the Tongan Chief had stabbed Rasta’s dad when they were in school.

Captain Rasta charged with anger and tried to stab the chief straight through the heart. But the chief dodged and swung his cutlass at Rasta - his T-Shirt ripped. Rasta rushed like a spartan towards the chief, and bashed him over the head and managed to slip a rope round a neck. Rasta pulled on the rope until the chief called for mercy.

Rasta was victorious and the whole crew celebrated their win. A large feast was held before they boarded their ship to set off again.

Rasta left some of his men on the island and set off back on his journey. On this day it started to get dark and stormy, which made it very dangerous for Captain Rasta to sail. The crew stopped the boat and lowered the sail, waiting for the weather to get back to normal and to be safe to sail on. Unfortunately, a big wave hit the East Side Mariner and tragically killed Rasta and his crew, as the ship had capsized in shark infested waters.

Capture The Flag!!!

Side stepping and dodging, I dashed through to the other teams territory, diving for the precious flag. As I was going to get my team a point, I was tagged. ''Hurry up and get me'' I yelled ''Be patient" Kingston yelled back at me. Kingston was dashing down the side line like Jarred Hayne, but sadly he was caught by the cunning Nezenli. Waata stepped like Benji Marshall and got the point for our team."Yay" year 5 won.

Ferdinands Discovery

Ferdinand Magellan was born in 1480 in Portugal. Magellan disagreed with the government of Portugal, because he hated Portugal so much that he went to sail for Spain. Ferdinand went to Spain and asked the king for money and a boat. The king gave him a boat called Victoria. He wanted to travel west because the eastern route past Africa was Portugese land. So Magellan went through the strait at the bottom of South America. He found the new ocean very peaceful, so he called it the peaceful waters and now it is called the Pacific Ocean. Sadly Magellan was killed in the Philippines in a fierce battle against the chief.

Johnathan Thurston

Jonathan Thurston is a great kicker for his team cowboys in the N.R.L curving all his kicks in the goal and scoring points for his team. He curvs his kicks like a boomerang flying around in the air spinning and twirling. Thurston is a legend at kicking for Queensland and is a play maker. Jonathan is the best.

Christopher Columbus

In the 1400's, Christopher Columbus begged and asked the King of Spain for money and a boat to travel to the west of the word to get to India, because of the terrible seas of Africa. The people did not agree with Christopher Columbus because they did not know what was on the west of the world. When Christopher Columbus reached land he thought he was in India and started calling central Americans - Indians.

Christopher Columbus was the first European to sail across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americans and returned back to Europe. Until now people had thought the only continents were Europe, Asia and Africa. Hundreds of years later The Europeans discoverd the Pacific Ocean. The land that Christopher Columbus discovered named ''New World'' was now called America because it wasn't a part of Aisa

Our Fantastic Trip - July 28 2010

As we were sailing on the deep blue sea, past the shore during our trip to Maritime Museum, the icy wind was biting my face. The big strong waves were lapping against our ship and our sails were luffing as we sailed towards the wind. The force of the wind blew my hair, as if i was a rock star. It was freezing out on the harbour yesterday.

The Islands of Tonga - July 6 2010

The islands of Tonga are relaxing but pretty hot. The beach gives you a good view around the deep blue sea and down town. When you go to the beach it reminds you of Fiji because of the fabulous coconut trees and the nice warm sun. I think that the islands of Tonga are pretty nice islands to go to.

Warriors vs Sydney Roosters July 6 2010

Kevin Locke needed a strecher to exit AMI Stadium. It was the roosters who were left behind feeling sick. With only 53 seconds the wingers knew what the had to get a hat-trick try. Lock threw him self to the try line hitting the goal post knowing that he wouldn't let his team down.

Israel Folau is Best! July 7 2010

Israel Folau is the best! The only reason why the Brisborne Broncos always win their matches is because Israel Folau is always there for his team, waiting on the side for a kick, so he can jump and get a try. Israel Folau is like a raven when he jumps in the air and scoops the ball.He is like a crushing bulldozer when he runs up and bumps them off. Israel is the best at stepping.

State of Origin - July 5 2010

New South Wales are warming up for the big game for the State Of Origin Shield. ''Just look at Jarred Hayne from NSW sprinting around the stadium field 120 meters waiting to get a run away try''. ''So just look at Bret White from New South Wales doing 40 push ups hardening up his shoulders and chest for some big tackles and for some big bump offs ''. They're ready to go on to the slippery cold foggy field.

It's time for the big game.
Johnathan Thurston kicks it off. What's this? Jarred Hayne gets the ball and steps Darren Lockeyer he sprints past his team like fifty meters and gets speared by Steve Price. The second rower passes it to Anthony Minichiello and he bumps Steve Price off and gets a try now its 4-0 and New South Wales are wining by three. Now New South Wales got 4 trys and it is finished. New South Wales won and beat Queensland plus they had won the State of Origin Shield.

He Tangata, He Tangata, He Tangata - June 21 2010

We made this movie as part of a competition for the Auckland Museum. These were the people involved: Dillon, Hosannah, James, Kingston P, Mary L, Osana, Ramona.
Lots of schools from all over Auckland entered the competition. We were delighted to find out that we had made the finals. We got to go to the awards ceremony at the museum too. Keisha Castle-Hughes even gave out the prizes!
The idea of our movie is that even though technology has changed throughout the years, people are still the most important thing in our lives.
All of us enjoyed making the movie. We were so excited to find out that we had won the most Creative Storytelling category. We think our movie is just AWESOME - What do you think?

Iron Brion May 6 2010

Yesterday I learnt at Iron Brion, that the red meat is better then the light red meat because the red meat like beef or lamb has more iron then the light red meat. The light red meat is not as good for you, because it doesn't give you as much iron in it. Did you know that hamburgers are good for you? Hamburgers are good for you because it gives you energy and something called zinc that keeps you from getting sick.

Volcanic Pressure - April 22 2010

On Monday afternoon, Room 14 had been learning about pressure by blowing up long thin balloons. As room 14 was blowing their thin balloons they were puffing, blowing and straining. With no warning the pressure caused the balloon to pop just like a volcano exploding.
We learnt about how magma can heat up inside the magma chamber, pressure builds and explodes like an active volcano.

Click here to watch our balloon video.

Favourite thing at Camp - March 24 2010

It was midnight Lorenzo Max and I could hear some pretty angry teachers walking around.
''Go to sleep'' screamed Miss Garden.
''HaHaHaHa'' Max and Lorenzo laughed.
''Shut up you guys or else we are going to get caught eating our biscuits'' I growled at them.
''Relax, anyway, they're not our parents. They can't tell us what to do''Lorenzo said grumpily.
''You're right'' I whispered gently. We looked at Max we could hear something ''Poor Max has done a fart'' I shouted. We tried to tell him to be quiet but he didn't hear us, he was snoring.

Camp Thoughts -March 16 2010

Our amazing music teacher- Mr J, wrote this song all about our school value - "Is it Kind?'
Here James, Kingston P, Onosai,  and Samuela put their own spin on it and have invented some cool dance moves to go along with the chorus.
